The Alamo from A to Z
TITLE: The Alamo from A to Z
AUTHOR: William R Chemerka
ILLUSTRATOR: Wade Dillon
PUBLISHER: Pecan Publishing Company

I enjoyed this ABC book all about the Alamo. There was a lot of information and I liked the way it was presented in an understandable way. Popular Alamo names are mentioned such as Bowie, Crockett, and Travis, but others are here too that I was less familiar with like William King, the youngest Alamo defender.
This would be an educational book to add to your unit on Texas! It is appropriate for elementary aged children.

Amazing ABC

This is an ABC board book of LEGO creations from Apple to Zipper. I particularly thought the map and zipper were creative. I liked them all though (except goblin, thought something better could be used for letter G). Little ones will enjoy the pictures in this book and older kids might like to try to make their own ABC LEGO creations!

L is for Library

AUTHOR: Sonya TerryILLUSTRATOR: Nicole Wong

There is a cat who you will find through the pages of this ABC book as you learn about the library. Some of the words used about the library include historical fiction, keyword search, and shelf markers.
This would be a good book to read to introduce students to the library. The illustrations are fitting and humorous.

ABC San Antonio
TITLE: ABC San Antonio An Alphabet Guidebook to the Fiesta City
AUTHOR: Heila Rogers
ILLUSTRATOR: David Rogers, Haley Beham, Heila Rogers, Christopher Borchardt & Daniel Rogers
PUBLISHER: Stage Books
COPYRIGHT: 2009
Since we visited San Antonio this year for our family vacation, this book caught my eye at our local library. This is a well-done ABC book focusing on some of the sights to see in San Antonio, Texas. There are both popular attractions like the Alamo as well as others that are not as well known.
I thought the photographs in this book and the layout were very appealing for the young reader. This would be a great book for the elementary classroom in a Texas study. Another use would be as a wonderful example of a well-done ABC book.

This ABC book is unique in its design as it is shorter in height than most books, which is one of the things that caught my attention. It goes through the alphabet naming a different art related word for each letter. Some of these include frame, landscape, prints, and vanishing point. The illustrations are great because they illustrate the concept of the words being described.
My son and I enjoyed reading this book and learning some new words together.

Go through the alphabet with something baseball related for each letter. I thought the author did a good job of giving a word for each letter as well as a little information describing how the word relates to baseball. The illustrations really add to the interest and appeal of this book, which my husband noticed too when he read the book with our son.
My son and I thought this was a great book. It would be a nice book for any baseball lover!

This book offers an A-Z list of items to use in your compost. It's poetic verse makes it fun to read aloud. The illustrations are amazing to me, and I appreciate the detail and colors on each page. This would be a wonderful addition to a classroom or school library as well as a unit on the environment.
My son and I found this to be a wonderful book to enjoy together.
