In this book you will visit a farm stand and count various produce.  It has rhyming text that make it fun and the illustrations are fabulous! 

I borrowed this one from the library because the cover and title intrigued me.  I read it several times to my 2 year old.  I will definitely watch for more books by this author. 

This would make a great addition to your classroom library to be used with counting or a unit on produce of the summer.

10 Easter Egg Hunters

This is a counting book about children hunting for eggs. There are not a lot of words, but they do tell the story of the kids trying to find a variety of eggs of different colors.

It is appropriate for toddlers through preschool aged children.  It would be a good book to use to practice both counting and color identification. 

Jake's 100th Day of School

Mr. Thompson's class is preparing for the 100th day of school.  Each child is going to bring a collection of 100 things.  When Jake gets to school, he realizes he forgot his collection at home.  The principal helps him find a solution.  The class has a special 100th day visitor also.

This is a nice book to read to prepare for or celebrate the 100th day.  I thought the  students had good ideas of things to bring in a collection to share with the class. 

How Many Seeds In a Pumpkin?

Mr. Tiffin brings three pumpkins to school.  The children guess how many seeds are in each one.  They clean out the pumpkins and come up with three ways to count the seeds (by 2s, 5s, and 10s).  Besides the pumpkin lesson, a boy named Charlie learns that it is okay to be the smallest.

This would be a wonderful book for an elementary school classroom or library.  I can see this being read in a unit on pumpkins in a Kindergarten or 1st grade class, and then the class could count the seeds in various pumpkins as the kids in the book do.  I liked this book and that it included a simple lesson for Charlie (besides the math/pumpkin lesson).  

Lyle Walks the Dogs

Lyle the crocodile has a dog walking job. He starts with one dog and each day adds one more dog that he is walking. This is a great book for young children as they are learning to count. Besides the dogs there was some other things to count and look for on each page.

Two at the Zoo A Counting Book

A boy and his grandpa visit the zoo together in this fun rhyming book. They count the animals as they go including a black bear, parrots, penguins, and lions. Preschool through early elementary aged children will enjoy this counting book. The illustrations were fun and will be enjoyable for young children.

I recommend this book for the elementary classroom library.
